Plains People/ Natives
Plains people were nomadic. Which meant that they fallowed game herd, such as: Buffalo or Cattle. The main animal that they would fallow was buffalo`s. When they killed a buffalo they used everything of it. They would only kill enough for them to eat. They had a weird style of getting buffalo. They would send the teenagers to study foxes and wolves, to figure out how they acted and what they did. Then they would send out the teenagers, who were then in wolf/ fox skins, to get some buffalo. When the buffalo saw them they would think it was a fox or wolf. Which is one of their natural predators. The buffalo would run, and as they did all the teenagers corralled them towards a thirty to forty foot cliff. The boys would drive some buffalo over it and let the rest go. Then they would collect the dead buffalo and bring them back to the camp. If you want to learn more about buffalo and what they used them for, go to the BUFFALO tab on the left.
Native American had been living on the plains for thousands of years. Most were nomadic and were used to having no boundaries and no laws. When Eastern People started to come over, it all went bad. The people from the east were mistreating and taking the Indians lands. The Indians were killing and robbing the people that were on there way to the west. So, the government offered the Indians supplies if they went to the Oklahoma Territory. Which is on the top left of the map below. The Indians didn't like the land. It as different from what there ancestors and they had grown up in. Soon enough the government allowed settlers to settle in the Oklahoma Territory. People lined up and waited for the signal that they could make some their land. Some people were in wagons, on their feet, and some were on horses. When they heard the trumpet they ran across and claimed land. After that the Indians fought back. There were many massacres killing both sides until it was all ended. The Indians were put into reservations where life would be different for them.
